04/15/14 14:26The National Weather Service forecasts another ½ to 1 inch of rain over the next 1-2 hours. Based on the forecast and current flows in Cameron Run, county officials predict that residents may experience minor street flooding in the Huntington area and localized street flooding in the BelleView/New Alexandria areas.

Residents in those areas are encouraged to move vehicles to higher elevations as a precautionary measure.

County public works, emergency management and public safety personnel continue to monitor the weather and conditions and the ground and send additional alerts if the situation changes.

THIN LOCALIZED STREAMERS OF HEAVY SNOW WILL MOVE SOUTHEAST
THROUGH PORTIONS OF NORTH CENTRAL MARYLAND...THE EASTERN WEST
VIRGINIA PANHANDLE AND NORTHERN VIRGINIA THIS MORNING INCLUDING
PORTIONS OF I-81 AND I-70.

WITHIN THESE BANDS OF SNOW...RAPID VISIBILITY REDUCTIONS OF LESS
THAN ONE HALF MILE CAN BE EXPECTED ALONG WITH SNOW ACCUMULATIONS
OF A COATING TO ONE INCH. WITH TEMPERATURES BELOW FREEZING THIS
MORNING...THAT WILL CREATE LOCALIZED AREAS OF ICY ROADS AND
DANGEROUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS THAT DRIVERS WILL ENTER INTO QUICKLY.

HAZARDOUS TRAVEL WILL OCCUR UNDER THESE BANDS OF SNOW. DRIVERS

Tuesday.

The National Weather Service in Baltimore MD/Washington has
issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow which is in effect
from 6 am to 3 PM EDT Tuesday.

* Precipitation type - Snow.

* Accumulations 1 to 3 inches. The highest amounts will be north
and west of Interstate 95 toward the Blue Ridge mountains.

* Timing snow will begin early Tuesday morning. The heaviest
snow is expected Tuesday morning before tapering off during the
afternoon and early evening.

* Temperatures low temperatures tonight in the mid to upper 20s.
High temperatures Tuesday will be in the mid to upper 30s.

* Winds becoming southeast around 5 mph.

* Impacts roads will be snow covered and slippery Tuesday
morning and travel will be difficult during the morning commute.
Most surfaces will become wet Tuesday afternoon with
temperatures rising above freezing.

Precautionary/preparedness actions.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow will cause
travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited
visibilities and use caution while driving.
